Craig family of Davis City. I know there are Craig cousins on my mother's side
of the list on this site and there was DAR research on the Craigs done in the
past. There were seven Craig brothers in the Revolutionary War. Contact me
if you have any information on this topic.
This brings up a question for me. There were Craigs, Osborns, in the school with Sanford Boyd's children. My mom's mother was Lou Craig from Davis City in Decatur County. I know that Lou's grandfather raised Lou and was for a time living I believe Mercer County. This makes me wonder if Lou was related to the Craigs in Mercer County. Some of these Craigs married into the Osborns. There were also Perks in the area at that time. I noticed that the marriage date of Sanford and the moving time to Mercer County were odd.

Appreciate your sending me on the Amanda E. Boyd family. I know I already sent you the marriage listing for her and Lewis Harrison Grimes and the 1850 Putnam Co., IN cencus where she appears with her parents and siblings.
Following you will find info sent to me by another of these siblings. It explains that John Boyd B abt. 1800 KY wife Polly B abt. 1804 KY. Polly died in Putnam Co., and he married again to Lucy Ann Perks B Feb. 1826. and they had three children: William, Sanford and Pete. Apparently they moved to Davis Co. I think near Leon? Anyway they only stayed about a year in IA and went to MO.

111. SANFORD BOYD born Oct. 21, 1859, near Greencastle, Putnam County,
IN,
west and south of Indianapolis, IN. Sanford moved to Missouri when he was
9
years old. On Jan. 12, 1884 he married SUSAN (SUSIE) ELIZABETH ELLIOTT.
She
was born Oct. 7, 1864 in Tippiconoe County, IN. She moved with her family
to
Iowa in 1869, then to Missouri in 1870. She had five sisters and one
brother.
Sanford and Susie had 10 Children. Maude, Cora, Lewis, James, Daisy,
Gilbert,
Maymie, Edith, Madge and Clark. She was baptized into the Fairview
Christian
Church by "Uncle Billie Moore, and remained steadfast to her faith.
Attending church even more than her feeble strength would allow. Susie
died
in Cainsville on Dec. 26, 1959. She is buried in Fairview Cemetery, north
of
Cainsville, MO. At the time of her death she had 10 children, 24
grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
She
was 95 years old. Sanford died of cancer in Cainsville, Mo. in 1925.
