Two young men were knifed Saturday in two separate fights in downtown Des Moines.
Gust Sambos, 20, of 911 Fortieth place, suffered stab wounds in the back of the head and a severely cut right thumb. He was reported in fairly good condition at Broadlawns General Hospital.
Truman Osborne, 21, of 1304 Wade ave, suffered two cuts on the face and was reported in good condition at Broadlawns.
Police said Sambos was attacked by three youths in an alley behind the Mirror Lounge, 644 Grand ave., about 12:30a.m.
Police said Osborne, who had attempted to halt the previous fight, later became involved in an argument with the three youths.
Police were holding the three youths and said the two in hospital also will be questioned.
