newspaper clipping amanda shafer scrapbook

The wife of Wilbur V. Osburne, who is serving 15 years in the state penitentiary for breaking and entering and escape, Friday was granted a divorce in district court here.
District Judge Russell Jordan awarded Mrs Evelyn Osburne custody of the couple's 5-year-old boy. The judge left pending any child support until Osburne is released from custody.
He was sentenced in 1946 to a 10-year term for breaking and entering with a series of burglaries in Keokuk and the surrounding area. He was a Des Moines resident at the time.
In December, 1947, Osburne fled the state penitentiary farm at Clive, but was recaptured and given an additional five year sentence for the escape.
