Rogers/Dailey family newsletter

2008 holiday greetings....
Daniel graduated with honors from Rogers Learning Center this year. He is continuing his educational pursuits as a member of the operations staff at the Stafford Centre Performing Arts Theater & Convention Center. He works with theater lighting & also runs spot lights, theater rigging & rails, sound board & mixing and has also worked as a stage hand. On the convention side he sets up for banquets, wedding receptions, conventions, parties, etc. Setting up runways, dance floors, stages, tables chairs, booths, & many other things following the clients wishes working wtih the CAD designs. Daniel started with Stafford Centre in Sept. 2007 and is now on call with many other lighting and sound professionals in the Houston area so he is kept quite busy. Today he works for one new client from 10am-10pm, then must go help do a major changeover at the Stafford centre for new clients coming in tomorrow, so we are not expecting him home until after 4am Friday morning. Daniel also enjoys writing computer code & is working on several mmrpg in which he is a writer & technical advisor on the web. Daniel has several XBOX 360 games which he plays with friends from around the world--his latest is Guitar Hero Tour Band & he is always looking to hook up with a few good players to join his band on XBOX live.
Dianna continues to enjoy teaching & working with the Rogers Learning Center. Dianna was put on insulin in April 2008 for her type 2 diabetes & is still working with doctors to get her blood sugar under control. As a way to get more exercise & sunshine, this year for the first time tried container gardening on the driveway & in the front yard, which proved interesting with her allergies to most living plants. Some success was had with tomatoes (about 30 plants--not all successful), peppers, lettuce, parsley, chives, cucumbers, brussel sprouts, & strawberries. SThe squash, watermelon, & cantaloupe weren't successful. She is already planning her 2009 garden, seeds will be started in teh plant nursery next week for planting outdoors Feb. 1. It is still hard getting used to the diffeent growing season, but it is a challange that hopefully can be over come. We are still picking tomatoes from the 2008 plants & will be planting the 2009---lol. The yard is not big enough to allow for a full sized garden & the big trees cause so much shade in parts making it hard to grow almost anything. The family cats are not too sure what is so fascinating about these plants in the big pots on the driveway, but are happy to keep the birds and other animals away from the prized plants.
Juanita is enjoying her retirement. She has been a consultant for the Rogers Learning Center. She is catching up on years and years of lost sleep, reading, & tv watching. She recently discovered the XM music stations & enjoys listening to the radio broadcasts from the 40s & 50s.
We are wishing everyone peace, health, & love for the coming year & may all your wishes come true.

Daniel Rogers, Dianna Rogers, Juanita Dailey
