JOHN S. BOYD
John S. Boyd was born February 26, 1837 in Putnam Co., Indiana and died at his home in Davis County, Iowa, March 26, 1898, at half past three o'clock having suffered more or less for five weeks with rheumatism of the heart. His prayer at the hour of noon on the day he died was "Father, direct me and guide me, keep thou near me and bring me safely home."
He came to Iowa in 1860 and was married to Mary J. Harbert June 30, 1861. Five children were born to them; two sons and one daughter are still living. The mother and two daughters having preceded him to the eternal home. He united with the Shunem Presbyterian Church in 1862. The funeral was held Sunday, February 27, at his residence, conducted by Rev. J.W. Stark
