Native of Fox Creek Township, Was Prominent in Vicinty of Wichita.
The Rev. James Hugh Higdon, who was born Dec. 2, 1875 in Fox Creek township and who was reared there, died suddenly of a heart attack April 23 at his home in Potwin, Kan.
Mr. Higdon, well known in the Wichita area, had worked until 11:00 o'clock the night before attending his duties as state oil inspector at a refinery near Potwin.
Mr. Higdon is survived by his widow, Mary E. Higdon; a son Philip of El Dorado; three daughters, Mrs. Carrie Hill, Coldwater, Kans., Mrs. Mary Frerking, Newton, Kan., and Mrs. Elsie Smith, Potwin; two brothers, Joe Higdon, Winona, Mo. and Hobart Higdon, Avant, Okla.; and four sisters, Mrs. Mannie Stanley, Topeka, Kans., Mrs. Emma Orton, Rosalia, Kan., Mrs. Gilly Maxwell, Brimson, and Mrs. Grace Williams, Winona, Mo.
Funeral services were held April 24 at Potwin, and burial was at Memorial Park cemetery Hutchinson, Kan.
