1. Roderick Craig was born 12Oct1740 in London, England and died 1844 in Henry County Indiana. He married Rebecca F. Unknown 1780 in Randolph County, North Carolina.. She was born about 1750 in North Carolina, and died Unknown.
Notes for Roderick Craig:
Some records of have his date of birth 1750, others 1740. His tombstone is 1740 to 1844. Some say the dates are wrong and should be 1750 to 1754. It still makes him 104 years old at his death. His marriage information for Randolph County, in North Carolina states he was 31 years old when he marriedhis wife Rebecca F. in 1780. This would mean he was born in 1750, not 1740, or he lied about his age... IF, this true then the dates on his tombstone are wrong or right??? He died at the age of 104 years, 5 months, and 23 days......
Roderick Craig came from England and was born there in 1750.. He came over as a young man to serve garrison duty with the British when the country was still a colony of England. Following his service he settled near Ashville, NC. He married a woman named Rebecca, who possibly could have been an eastern Cherokee Indian. We can find no record of her birth but she is buried in Reynolds Cemetery in Cadiz, Henry Co, IN. Source Audie Sharp.
He was shipped to America as a British soldier then joined the Colonist's efforts in the fall of 1781. He enlisted as a private in Capt. Elijah William's Company, Colonel Belford's North Carolina Regiment. He settled near Ashville, North Carolina.
