Louellen Ann (Boyd) Eastin, age 77, of Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Warren Grant & Nadine Lucille (Marsengil) Boyd, was born July 12, 1940, at her grandmother's home in the western part of Leon. She passed away at Westview Acres in Leon, Iowa, on Friday, September 15, 2017.
Louellen's name had a special meaning. It is her two grandmother's names, Lou and Ellen, joined together.
The family lived in several places near Leon. She started school in Lewisburg in Wayne County, Iowa. Later she attended Union Ridge in Decatur County where Oda Gale McKern was her teacher. She attended Leon Junior High and High School until 10th grade.
The family moved to Wayne County and she attended Humeston High School until 11th grade. At the age of 14, Louellen started working at the Frost Nursing Home in Leon. Later she was one of the first four hired by O'Bryan Brothers.
On October 14, 1956, at the age of 16, she was united in marriage to Larry Lloyd Eastin in Leon. Two children, Coleen Kay and Dennis Lloyd, were born to this union. They lived a short time in Des Moines, Iowa where Larry was employed at Iowa Packing Company. Then they moved back to Leon. Louellen worked at Westview Acres, Decatur County Hospital, and finally, for the last 25 years of her career, Decatur Medical Services as a doctor's assistant.
Proceding her in death were her parents; brother, Warren Lee Boyd; parents-in-law, Oscar and Gladys Eastin; brother-in-law, Paul Eastin; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Larry Eastin, of Leon, Iowa; daughter Coleen Wright of Council Bluffs, Iowa; son, Dennis and Amy Eastin of Bethany, Missouri; grandchildren, Anthony and Ashley Young of Leon, Iowa, Estelle and Charles Schmaltz of Marion, Iowa, Rachel Smith and fiance, John Wolfe, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, and Emma Eastin of Bethany, Missouri; great grandchildren, Hunter, Maggie, and Mason Young, Oliver Schmaltz, and Lonan Young; sister, Janet and Wayne Richman of Leon; brothers, Danny and Nancy Boyd and Terry and Jeanne Boyd, all of Leon; sisters-in-law, Cindy Body, of Decatur, and Evelyn Eastin of Leon; and other relatives and friends.
Aunt Mary sent this to me with notes....married Oct. 14 1956. daughter born Nov. 1 1957, 1st child. daughter divorced. Louellen and husband helped raise grandson Anthony "Tony" per Virginia's info.
