Francis R. Orton

(Frank), 76, of Route 4 El Dorado, died Wednesday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 11a.m. Friday at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in the Towanda Cemetery.
He was born Nov 18 1903 in St Joseph, Mo, the son of James Wesley and Emily Phillis Higdon Orton. He came to the Butler County area with his family when he was 15 years old.
He married Bernice D. Cousins June 25 1933 at Haverhill. She died July 21 1962. He married Dorothy McClelland July 4 1971 in Potwin.
He was a retired employee of the Vickers Refinery and was managing the Bluestem Trailer Park. He was a member of the Potwin Christian Church and a former elder in the church. He was active as a 4-H leader for more than 17 years and was the former chairman of the Butler County chapter of the American Red Cross. He was also active in Butler County politics.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; a son John of Amarillo, Texas; two daughters, Mrs Norma Oldham, Denver Colo., and Marty Orton, Dallas; a stepson Larry McClelland, El Dorado; a stepdaughter Karen Hurlburt, Leon; a brother, Hobart Orton, Rosalia; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
