Rev, Max Haggard

Max Dean Haggard, son of Roal Leonard and Louie Marie (Dunham) haggard,was born June 27 1927 in Mercer Mo and died on November 25 2001 at his home in Mercer at the age of 74 years.
Max was reared in Mercer Mo and was in the produce and trucking buisness. In 1969 he was employed as manager of Albers Feed and Farm Supply in Mercer until it's closing. He surrendered to preach the Gospel in 1964 and pastored first and the Mercer Baptist CHurch in a one room Church with a stove in the middle. He also served as pastor of the Zion Baptist Church in Cainsville, the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, the Ravanna Baptist church (where he was instrumental in building a new church) and the Humeston, Ia Baptist church. He also served as interim pastor for the baptist Churches in Lineville, Ia, Princeton, Mo, Unionville, Mo, Newtown Mo and the New Salem Baptist Church near Pleasanton, Ia. Max was a veteran of World War II serving in the army. He was a member of the Ragan-Hickman American Legion Post #477 in Mercer, and the Mercer Baptist Church.
Max was married on October 9 1947 to Clella Chastine Curry, who survives him of their home in Mercer. He is also survived by his two daughters, Donna Beavers and son-in-law Danny of Ottumwa, Ia and Debbie Wellendorf and son-in-law Tim of Concordia, Ks; his son, Bill Haggard and daughter-in-law Barbara of oPort Byron, Illinois; four grandchildren, Mike Haggard and his wife THeresa, Adrienne Ancell and her husband Brent, Natalie and Nathan Wellendorf; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Geane HAggard; two sisters, Carolyn Shroyer and brother-in-law Wayne adn Dorothy Carmichael and brother-in-law H.L) all of Mercer, two brothers, Richard HAggard of East Moline, Illinois, and Jerry Haggard (and sister-in-law Freeda) of Redding, CA. and by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother William Haggard, a grandson Ricky Lynn Haggard, a granddaughter Stephanie June Haggard, a great-granddaughter Brenna Geane HAggard, and by a sister-in-law Barbara Haggard.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 28 2001 at the Mercer Missouri Baptist Church with the Reverends Ron Helton and Max Carmichael officiating, under the direction of Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Lineville, Ia. Burial was in the Early Cemetery in Mercer, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Wright Memorial Hospice of Trenton, Missouri. Contributions may be mailed in care of the funeral home at PO Box 316 PRinceton, Mo 64673.
