while searching 1911-1912 Bethany newspapers found numerous ads for S.M. Hass, Liscenced Embalmer and Funeral Director (also listed as S.M. Haas, Dealer in Furniture, Carpets, and Undertaking.)...Dec 11, 1911 "Mr. Haas the west side furniture dealer has been in business in Bethany a little more than three years, coming from Albany, where he was a member of the famous Bear Furniture Co. for several years. He was also principal of education and a jolly good fellow. Mr. Haas is gifted with the spirit of push, and works his business in a practical, systematic manner. He enjoys a splendid trade and is always on the lookout for something in his line that appeals to the taste of the public. His store is chock full, every available bit of space being taken up with such articles as are usually found in a first class furniture emporium."
