Jerry Haggard WOW, i don't know how old this picture is. My family used to travel from California to Missouri to visit family. My cousin dug this picture up from somewhere! lol. Oh, I'm the little guy in the middle.

.Lisa Axsom Butler I was looking thru some of mom's old photos while visiting up there and just had to snap a shot of this one to share with you guys!!! I vaguely remember this visit but have no idea when it was taken (likely mid-late 70s - was before John was born which was in 1980).

wait a minute....
we ate at Trenton Pizza Hut buffett last nite on the way to the movies. a few booths away, a man caught my eye. he was a ringer for my late great Uncle Dean. Uncle Dean was a great old guy. I'm sure he was a great young guy, too, but I only knew him as an older guy. he played instruments in a band, he was quick with a joke. and he told amazing family stories. he drove a luxury car pedal to the medal & a/c on full blast. he took me to Hughes Cemetery & showed me various spots around the Cainsville/Saline area where houses had formerly stood that family members had lived in.
Uncle Dean died when I was pregnant with Katie. and when I saw this gentleman at Pizza Hut, I had to smile about my memories of Uncle Dean.

July 4th
my late grandpa Vermal loved holidays...especially the 4th. he spent a fortune on fireworks & brought them to our house to shoot them off. he was always nailing some spinny thing somewhere & it would take off chasing him.
my family used to have a huge family picnic every year, Uncle Bob ran the grill for years, Tom took over towards the end. Grandma Grace & Aunt Minerva would make homemade ice cream. The last picnic I remember was the year I was pregnant with Katie.
we had to get up early to milk & do chores so we'd be done before everyone showed up. and then there was milking & chores to do at night, too. Grandma & Grandpa would always stay for fireworks. Grandma made the best potato salad.
