Funeral services will be held for Joseph Ferkin, drowning victim, Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Rev. Howard Lybeck will officiate. Burial will be in the Roland Cemetery.
Ferkin drowned Sunday southwest of Madrid in a futile attempt to rescue his 7-year old daughter, also a drowing victim. The body of Ferkin was recovered Sunday evening but the body of the little girl has not been found.
Surviving Ferkin and his wife Nancy and three children Kitty Jo, Lorita, and Jerry. Ferkin's wife, hospitalized after the drowning for shock, was released from Iowa Methodist Hospital Monday.
