Funeral Services Wednesday Afternoon, Tindall Chrisitan Church
Johnnie Turner Axsom, Grundy County farmer, died Saturday afternoon at his home on Route One. He had been ill and six and one half years, and seriously ill the past week.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Tindall Christian Church. The Rev. J.E. Todd will officiate. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery.
Mr Axsom was born Jan 27 1884 in Indiana, the son of Alexander and Anna Dobson Axsom. He came to Cainsville Mo, when six years old and lived near there most of his life until moving to Grundy county two years ago. On April 29 1908, he was united in marriage to Daisy Boyd at Princeton. They were the parents of five children, one daughter having preceded her father in death.
Surviving besides his wife of the home are two daughters and two sons, Mrs Anna Rilling, San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Viola Avril, Dulzura, Calif., Marvin Lee Axsom, Chula Vista, Calif., and Alfred Axsom, Route 1. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, a sister Mrs Etta Hughes, Pleasanton, Ia, and a brother, William Axsom, of Cainsville. Two brothers are deceased.
Mr Axsom was a member of the Cainsville Christian church. The body was taken Sunday afternoon to the family home on Route 1 where it will lie in state until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Slater funeral home is in charge of the service.
