J.C. Maxwell war records




my great great grandpa JC Maxwell fought on the Confederate side in the Civil war. on these forms he is listed as 1 Lt. Co A 45 Regt. Va.

Sept. 19 1864 listed as Prisoner of War captured at Winchester
sent to Fort Delaward Sept 25 1864 officers captured by General Sheridan's forces
the 45th Regiment Virginia Infantry was organized about May 29 1861 with ten companies, A to K. Company I was enlisted Sept. 3 1861 and served with the regiment until January 15 1862 when it was assigned to the 23rd Battalion Virginia Infantry as Company C. the regiment was reorganized May 14 1862
