Scarlett O'Hara was a four member post-hardcore band from McAllen, Texas currently on hiatus.
2007-2012

Scarlett O'Hara was a post-hardcore band from McAllen, Texas that was founded in 2007 by singer/guitarist Rene Lopez followed by screamer Eddie Cano. They soon recruited members Alex Samodouroff, Logan Burns, Andrew Mena, Morgan Vincent Hochstetler (departed in 2009 to go to college) and Edwin Chapa(who was replaced by current drummer Arnie Bernal in 2009) for the remaining spots in the band.[1] Their main musical influence is the metalcore band Underoath Their name is derived from the protagonist of the same name in the 1939 classic Gone With The Wind. They were signed to Rise Records.[2]

[edit] Self-Titled EP and Record Deal

In 2008, the band recorded an EP with local producer Charlie Vela. The Self-Titled EP contained just six songs. Among them were the popular songs "Where in the World is Earthworm Jim" and "Call it Reckless". In March 2009, Scarlett O'Hara was among a few local bands who were chosen to perform at the first annual Never Say Never Festival alongside bands such as Anberlin, A Skylit Drive, and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Over 300 copies of the band's self-titled ep were sold at the show. That was the start of the rise to fame. Soon after the Never Say Never show, Andrew Roesch, an artist manager with The Artery Foundation, came across the band's myspace page and contacted the band, offering to manage them for free until they were signed. It wasn't long before Scarlett O'Hara signed to Rise Records, which dropped them in 2011

[edit] Lost In Existence and Future Plans

After signing with Rise, the band took time to focus on finishing high school before completing their first full length album. The debut album, titled Lost In Existence took a little more than a month to complete and was released on September 13, 2010. The summer after graduation the band embarked on the pyknic partery tour alongside Woe, Is Me, Abandon All Ships, For All Those Sleeping, Attila, sleeping with sirens and headlining band drop dead, gorgeous. In November, Scarlett O'Hara joined Motionless In White, For All Those Sleeping, Woe Is Me, and headlining band A Skylit Drive for the Average Guys With Exceptional Hair Tour. It was recently stated that the band members have been writing new music for their second album. On January 8, Scarlett O'Hara embarked on "The Brodeo Tour" with the bands Hundreth, Lions!Tigers!Bears!, Letlive, and No Bragging Rights.[3] This is the first tour that they have headlined. The band released a music video for "Lost In Existence" on March 22, 2011. Scarlett O'Hara will soon be embarking on their 2nd headlining tour, The Metal East Tour, with fellow bands We Are Defiance, Casino Madrid, and Wolves Among Men. On July 19, shortly after Rene's(singer/guitarist)departure from the band because of creative differences/pursuit of his solo career, it was announced that scarlett had departed from the Metal East Tour due to unforeseen circumstances. It was also announced that Andrew Mena is no longer part of the band for many reasons.

"We apologize to all our fans for dropping The Metal East Tour. Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to drive home after the show in South Carolina. This should not stop anyone from attending the rest of the dates to check out our buds in We Are Defiance, Casino Madrid, and Wolves Among Men. We are NOT breaking up but we are taking a break from touring so we can write new material at home. We will have new songs posted as soon as possible. We can't thank you all enough for your love and support and we hope you all understand." The band was then no longer part of Rise Records because they dropped their second headlining tour.

Lead vocalist Eddie Cano has since announced on Facebook that Scarlett O'Hara is on hiatus and he is recording an EP with his new band, Chase the Lights, with Jace Thomas, formerly of Make Me Famous, on drums. Drummer Arnie Bernal has since joined hardcore/dubstep act Situations.

Throughout the month of February (2012), Scarlett has posted on Facebook about upcoming "big news" to be released on February 22, 2012. As of March 1, 2012, Eddie Cano released a statement through the Scarlett O'Hara facebook page, announcing his newest project, Miss Fortune, as well the Scarlett O'Hara's current state and future plans.

"As you all may know, Scarlett is on Hiatus due to other members pursuing other career options. I initially planned on keeping Scarlett alive and releasing a NEW song this week with a full EP for you guys. Although, I recently discovered I DO NOT have the legal rights or intentions to keep the name Scarlett O'Hara. (Hens our last status) Because I have been offered a deal to record a new Metal Ep for you guys. If I can get 1/4 OF YOU all to support me and "LIKE" our new page "Miss Fortune"! At 5k we will release a clip to our song "The Double Threat of Danger Ft. Tyler Carter" and I will continue making sweet sexual music for you.
As for a reunion, only time can tell but I will always be ready and waiting."
