May Day
my grandma Pauline moved to California when I was a baby. she would come to visit us sometimes....and would take us for long walks and sing us songs and tell us jokes and stories from her childhood that she had told her kids. she was there in spring once, and took us for a walk to pick flowers for May Day, then we put the bouquet on the porch, rang the bell, and hid.
when koren, kevin, & I lived in the apartments at Indianola, some of her little friends did May Day baskets to everyone....just tiny little paper baskets with candy in them. It is a charming, neat old idea, something I never did my kids, but am glad that this picture jogged my memory....
