In memory {deb dailey collection}
in loving memory of our mother and grandmother, ruth anne hague davis, who left us one year ago january 26 1995. god saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be
so he put his arms around you and whispered 'come with me'
with tearful eyes we watched you suffer and saw you fade away
although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.
a golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest
god broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
we love and miss you,
jack, linda, sarah, levi, and austin

The personal tribute of her children, of her friends and neighbors, far and wide, and of little children whom she loved, is the mark of highest honor and respect in which she was held. Dora, Dorval & Dorothy Axsom Dreaded Disease Causes Closing of Two Schools-A Strict Quarantine in Effect
{deb dailey collection}
Cerebro-spinal meningitis has taken the lives of three children in Polk township, Monroe county, just across the Brown county line, during the last few days and another child has the dreaded disease. The disease made its appearance in the home of Wiley Axsom, in the wildest and almost inaccessible part of Monroe county, and as a result, Dora, age 5, Dorval, age 9, and Dorothy, 7, are dead. Delphia Axsom, age 13, is reported as improving.
Fear that the disease might spread among the children of the Axsom school, located in Johnson township, this county, because the Axsom children have been pupils there, has been responsible for a strick quarantine being put into effect. Raleigh Deckard, teacher of the Axsom school, did not wait for official action but closed his school when the disease broke out, and with a cot and provisions, he quarantined himself in the school house, in an effort to safeguard the lives of his wife and children and others from the affliction, because he had been in the stricken Axsom home.
