My father, Horace Elmo CRAIG, and his twin brother, Harold Lee, were born in Cainsville, MO, Aug 4, 1912 to Erasmus Manford CRAIG and Sonora Jane CLARK.

Erasmus Manford, born May 14 1870--location unknown. Erasmus was the son of John CRAIG Sr., born July 16 1818, died Mar.28 1874, buried in Glaze Cemetery, Section 4 of Madison Township.
Sonora Jane CLARK was born July 3 1873-- location unknown

Ross CRAIG lived in Harrison and died sometime after 1957. He was married and had two daughters to my knowledge. I believe he is buried in the cemetery at Ridgeway MO. I was born in 1944 and believe his daughters to be a little older that I am. I would appreciate any information anyone has about Mr. Craig or the location of his burial plot.

William Lutz "Willie" AXSOM was born 1878. His family lived on a farm near Cainsville. Family legend has it that when he was around age 8, a peddler came through the country and talked Willie into leaving with him or kidnapped him. When he was about 19 years old, he walked home like nothing had happened. Has anyone heard this story? Thanks!

Mr. & Mrs. Art STANELY (possibly spelled STANLEY) lived in Bethany, MO, and may have operated a cafe there around 1920. They are thought to have taken in my grandpa's little brother, Lewis Orval BROWN, when his parents separated. Lewis was born Jan. 21 1919. Does anyone have any information?

I'm looking for information on Sarah J. (O'DONALD) MAXWELL b 1830 d 1901, Nora (WRIGHT) MAXWELL b 1884 d 1912 and Sadie b 1905 d 1912 - they are all buried in the Mount Moriah Cemetery, Mount Moriah, Harrison County, Missouri. In Lucinda BRYANT's obituary, it mentions that her sister Susan (STEWART) SHUMARD moved to Harrison County, Bethany area, in 1856. Susan's husband was Rev. Thomas Potter SHUMARD. They had 14 children and some of them may have come with them to Harrison County. She died in 1876 and is buried in Morris Chapel Cemetery. He died in 1878 and it is presumed he is also buried there. 2. Margaret Ann MOSS (my grandmother) b : 27 Sep 1864 in Harrison Co.,MO, d: 24 Dec 1929, also in Harrison Co.; m. James William STILL 12 Aug 1896 (his second wife).
They had one son, Robert Jennings (Nin) STILL, born 22 May,1898. He married Toie Ester CRAIG on 16 August,1916, and they had three children: Orley Dale, b. 1 July, 1919; Lewis Robert, b. 28 September, 1920; and Gladys Marie, b. 6 February, 1936. All three are now deceased. Orley's children: Ronald Dale, James Russell and Rita Kay, birthdates unknown.
Jim Still had previously been married about 1872 to Chaney Ann Mullins, who was born 16 May 1848, and died 2 April 1891. They had three (possibly more) children: Greely, b. c 1873; Lillie, b. ca. 1875; and Charles William, born 25 March 1881.

The following mentions a McClain cemetery in or around Clay township, Harrison County. Does anyone know of such a cemetery? "Died, October 22, 1905, at the home of her son in Clay Township, Harrison County, Missouri, Mrs. Barbara OSBORN nee MCCLAIN, aged 81 years, 7 months and 23 days. The deceased was a native of Bedford County, Pennsylvania, where she grew to womanhood, and at 24 years of age was married to Jacob OSBORN, with whom she moved in 1853 to Jefferson County, Iowa, and in 1855 to Decatur County. She was the mother of five children, four sons and one daughter. She was buried in the McClain Cemetery."

William HALL Sr. was born in Calvert County Maryland in 1804. He married Margaret KING and moved to Greene County Indiana about 1838. Around 1857 he and his family left Indiana and spent about three years in Illinois. William and his children moved to Harrison County about 1860. It is believed Margaret died in Illinois since she is not listed in the 1860 census with William. In 1867, William married Elizabeth ELLIOTT in Harrison County. They had one daughter, Mary HALL. William lived in northeastern Harrison County (Clay and Madison townships) until his death in 1880.
William Sr.'s children that also lived in Harrison County include: William D. HALL, Charles Wesley HALL, and Zachariah Henry HALL.
William D. HALL married Mary A. THOMPSON, the daughter of Washington and Lydia THOMPSON, who also lived in Harrison County. Charles HALL married Sarah Ann BAKER. Zachariah HALL married Sarah C. KETTERS.
William D. HALL, also died in 1880. His wife, Mary, and their children moved to Kansas and eventually settled in Oklahoma after the land rush of 1893. Charles HALL also settled in Oklahoma. Zachariah stayed in Harrison County.

Searching EDMISTON. Names that married into the Edmiston line were: WALKER, FINLEY, PETTIT, JENNINGS, THOMAS, and BRYANT or O'BRYAN. Samuel Edmiston and his wife Jane Gilston Edmiston moved from Orange County, NC to Harrison County in 1843. Samuel was the first judge of Harrison County. They were Presbyterian. Samuel was closely tied with Thomas Matkins and the two of them helped build the Matkins Church near Bethany in a little community known as Matkins. Samuel died in 1868 in Harrison County. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who connects.
