A police squad car answering an emergency call about 11p.m. Tuesday collided with another car at Second avenue and Walnut St.
It was the fourth time in four days that a squad car on emergency trip has been damaged in an accident.
No one was injured and damage was light in the accident Tuesday. Patrolman Thomas Teal, jr. the driver and Jack McClure had been dispatched from police headquarters to 1135 Tenth st. after an unidentified woman had reported she was unable to get into her home and feared members of her family had been overcome by gas.
Other officers said they found the family asleep.
Ole J. Ferkin, 66, of 1620 Des Moines st. driver of the passenger car, was issued a summons charging failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle.
Teale and McClure said they were using their siren and flashing red light as they drove west on Walnut. Near the intersection, they passed the Ferkin car on the left and the collision occurred as they turned north onto Second avenue in front of the Ferkin car, they reported.
Ferkin told police he had heard the siren but kept moving because he had the green light.
