Wrold War Veteran Victim of Pneumonia

Hans Ferkin, 46, a world war veteran who lived at 1012 Bromley street, died at 3:50 a.m. at the Deaconess hospital of plural pneumonia. He had been in the hospital for only two days.
Mr Ferkin was born in Skudeswes, Norway March 8 1892. He came to this country in 1908 and settled at Garden City. He enlisted in April 1918, with an Oklahoma contingent and was stationed in Texas. He was sent to France, attained the rank of corporal and fought in the battles of the St Miheiil and the Argonne sector. He was discharged June 14 1919.
He was married in this city on Feb 2 1925 to Miss Janice Hanson and had been working at the Lennox Furnace Company. The widow and four children, Audrey, Donna, Ardway, and Chadwich all at home, survive. He is also survived by his father Ole and two brothers and sisters, all living in Norway, a brother Chris in Bellevue, Ole in this city and another brother in New York.
Mr Ferkin was a member of the Elim Lutheran church in Norway and the American Legion of this city.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Pursel funeral home in charge of Rev. R.F. Wilson. The American Legion will have charge of services at the grave in Riverside.
