My wife was Nannie A. Bryant, as she was familiarly called but her legal name was Nancy Amy Bryant. Since our marriage she has been called Nannie Bryant Foster. We were married December 24, 1865, about six months after I returned from the Civil War. She was born in Hartsville, Bartholomew county, Indiana, May 27, 1849 and her father's family moved to Harrison county, Missouri in 1855. In 1860, when her age was between eleven and twelve and I as a little past twenty, she was a regular pupil in a school I was teaching and her father was one of the school directors.
Eight children came into our care. Loren May, born at Salem, Daviess county, Mo., October 28, 1866, married T.J. Wyatt, April 24, 1892, and died March 21, 1893, leaving an infant Nan R. Wyatt, born March 3, 1893. She took the place of her mother in our family and we educated her. Her father was born February 24, 1862 in Schuyler county, Mo. Next came Gilly Ione, born in Daviess county, Mo. September 11, 1868 and married W.H. Westfall August 20, 1890. they have two children: Cora Bliss, born in St. Joseph Mo. July 21 1892 and Bessie E. born in Randolph county, Mo. May 25 1898. Our third was Lula E. born August 1 1871, in Gallatin Mo. married W.G. Beck, Portland, Ore. no children. Next was Dick Barnet born Bethany, Mo. December 2 1873 married Cora B. B. Evans, June 19 1892. Their son Donald B. was born September _____ 1893. Dick BArnett's second marriage (yes, they spelled his name differently! deb) was to Lenora Layton, of Kansas. Then came Charles Edgar, born in Chillicothe, Mo. Feb 20 1878 married Anna Simms of St Joseph, Mo. March 6 1899. To them were born Charles E. and Jane R. Charles E. Jr. was born Feb 23 1903. Jane R. was born Dec 21 1909 adn died Dec. 7 1912. Our sixth is Ned W. born in Chillicothe, Mo. Dec 19 1880, married Leona Pearl O'Neil of St Joseph, Mo. They have one daughter, MArgaret Wayne, born at St Joseph Mo. March 10 1904. Our seventh was Ida Grace born in Burlington Iowa Dec. 8 1886, died Feb. 18 1899. Then came our last, Ralph D. born at St. Joseph Mo. on April 25 1893 and is not yet married.
