son of Gilbert and Marilyn Donanell (Hampshire) Lawson, was born November 9 1949, in Princeton, Mo. and died October 23 2010 at his home in Princeton, MO. at the age of 60 years.
Dan was married July 1 1972 to Diana Lee "Chrickett" Roberts, who survives him of their home in Princeton. He is also survived by his three sons, Scotty Allen Lawson and daughter-in-law Lisa and Gilbert Eugene Lawson and daughter-in-law Linda, all of Princeton, and Donnie Dean Lawson of Lexington, Mo; his mother, Donanell Shafer of Waukee, Iowa; two brothers Albert Lawson and sister in law Katheryn of Des Moines, Iowa, and Randall Lawson of Grimes, Iowa; two sisters Donna Lynn Hessletine and brother-in-law Ron of Alamo, Tx., and Janie Breese and brother-in-law Art of Des Moines, Ia., nine grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, Linda McGuire and her husband Eugene of Higginsville, Mo., Roberta Hummel of Marshall, Wisconsin, Connie Hyden-Fidler and her husband Everett of Higginsville, and Debbie Werneke and her husband Jerry of Concordia, Mo; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
Dan moved with his family to Des Moines Ia. when he was four years of age and was a 1967 graduate of North High School in Des Moines. In March of 1968 he joined the US NAvy and served as a medical corpsman during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Navy, he and Diana lived and worked in Des Moines, and other areas in Missouri. Dan's last employment was with the T.T.K. Lake City Ammunitions Plant in Independence, Mo, manufacturing ammunitions for the military. He and Diana returned to Princeton in 1998. Dan was a ham radio operator, was gifted at playing stringed musical instruments, collected wooden soldier nutcrackers, and among other things, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, assembling wooden model airplanes, and attending auctions.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday October 27 2010 at Princeton First Baptist Church, with Dr. DAvid Robertson officiating, under the direction of Greenlee-Middleton Funereal Service of Princeton, Mo. Burial was in the Princeton cemetery.
